Capboard September Product Updates: Simplifying Equity Management with New Features

At Capboard, we're always working to improve our platform to meet the needs of startups and their stakeholders. This month, we’re excited to announce a range of new features and improvements designed to streamline equity management and make your experience even smoother. Here’s a rundown of our September updates:

1. Introducing Post-Termination Exercise Period (PTEP) on Capboard.io

We’re thrilled to introduce a much-anticipated feature: the Post-Termination Exercise Period (PTEP). This new tool addresses a common challenge for employees with stock options after leaving a company.

Stock options often represent a significant part of an employee’s equity compensation, offering potential long-term financial rewards. However, once an employee leaves, they usually have a limited window of time—known as the post-termination exercise period (PTEP)—to exercise their vested options.

With our new PTEP feature, this process becomes much simpler. Companies can now configure the PTEP directly in Capboard, allowing employees to see exactly how much time they have to exercise their options after their departure. If the employee doesn’t exercise their options within the set window, the options automatically revert to the company’s pool, ready to be reissued to new team members. This automation not only simplifies compliance but also reduces the administrative burden on HR and finance teams.

2. New: Easily Download the Stakeholder Book from the Stakeholder View

The Stakeholder Book (Shareholder Ledger) is an essential document in many countries. We’ve made it easier than ever to generate and download this important record directly from the stakeholder view in Capboard. With just a click, you can have an updated, organized shareholder ledger ready for any legal or financial needs, saving time and ensuring accuracy.

3. Alert for Multiple Valuations on the Same Day

To prevent calculation errors, we’ve introduced an alert system that ensures only one company valuation can be entered per day. This feature helps avoid inconsistencies that could lead to incorrect financial reports or cap table issues. If you try to input two valuations for the same date, Capboard will automatically alert you to adjust the entries.

4. Duplicate Alert – Avoid Overcharges

We want to help you manage your equity without unnecessary costs. To do that, we’ve added a new duplicate alert feature. If a stakeholder or transaction is duplicated in the system, you will receive a notification to review and avoid any overcharges. This helps ensure clean data and smooth equity management for your company.

5. Fixes for Smaller Screens and Bug Fixes for Signature Feature

We’ve also been hard at work on several improvements to the platform’s user experience. Capboard is now optimized for smaller screens, ensuring that users on laptops and smaller devices can access all the platform’s features without any layout issues. Additionally, we’ve fixed bugs related to the Capboard signature feature, making signing documents through the platform even more seamless.

These new features are designed to make managing equity and cap tables easier, more transparent, and less error-prone. At Capboard, we’re committed to continuously enhancing the platform to help you and your company stay ahead.

Stay tuned for more exciting updates, and as always, feel free to reach out with any feedback or questions!
